I have been a Registered Midwife since 2013 and an active member of the NSWNMA since 2017, holding positions as delegate, President, Vice-President and Assistant Secretary of the Wollongong Hospital Branch. 

During this time I have been involved in many campaigns, both local and statewide,  in an effort to advocate for and improve the working conditions of nurses, midwives and carers. I am a member of the statewide midwifery member network and have experienced firsthand the many challenges facing our healthcare workforce.

Midwives are being pushed to breaking point. We are faced with dangerous workloads, poor staffing, skill mix and an erosion of our skills in a specialist area. The midwifery workforce is facing issues with recruitment and retention that require urgent attention.

Midwives deserve safe staffing ratios, reasonable workloads, and to work to our full scope of practice.

I am passionate about advocating for the rights of nurses, midwives and carers, and with your vote it would be my privilege to continue to do just that as your Councillor.
