I became involved in union action because I believe collective voice is the only way to secure lasting change for nurses, midwives and our patients.
I have nursed for more than 20 years across India, the UK, and Australia, in renal, and medical, across public and private settings. Across every setting, the story is the same: skilled, committed nurses stretched beyond safe limits, holding systems together through goodwill that is too often taken for granted.
Rural and regional nurses carry a particular burden: chronic understaffing, limited specialist support, and growing demand across vast districts. Recent campaigns have delivered genuine wins on ratios and pay, but the job is far from done, and regional hospitals must not be left behind.
If elected to Council, I will bring a strong rural voice to the table. I am committed to fighting for safe staffing, fair pay and better conditions across all sectors so that quality care never depends on your postcode, and nursing remains a profession people can build a life on.
