I am the Branch Secretary and delegate for Norwest Private Hospital, since establishing the branch in February 2024. 

I became involved with union action as I felt it was the only way to make positive change; for nurses and midwives and our patients.

I have worked as a RN in the private hospital sector for 18 years and have only, in the past few years, noticed a real drive to see improvements in conditions, pay and staffing.  

Even though all sectors strive for the same goals, it is achieved in different ways.

The private sector involves enterprise bargaining processes between nurse and midwife members, NSWNMA, and the owners of the hospitals.

Recently, battles in bargaining have seen some wins but not enough. Through these battles, involving strike actions and disputes in the FWC, private sector members have been able to collaborate, empower, and advocate for each other and their branches.

If elected to Council, I am committed to continuing this fight for better pay, conditions and ratios for the private sector.
