Skye Romer

  • EN, Mental Health

  • Secretary, Prince of Wales Mental Health Branch

  • NSWNMA Councillor since 2022

With over 13 years’ experience as a mental health nurse, I’ve worked across child, adolescent, and adult acute and rehabilitation inpatient units, the Acute Care Team, and a young adult mental health inpatient service in the private sector.

As Prince of Wales Mental Health Branch Secretary and delegate, I am committed to advocating for nurses, improving working conditions, and ensuring our voices are heard.

I’m particularly committed to addressing workplace violence and aggression and strengthening support for nurses, midwives and carers who experience it. My own experience of workplace injury and navigating the workers compensation system has given me firsthand insight into the challenges faced when injured at work. I understand the importance of strong representation, timely support, and prioritising staff safety and wellbeing.

The health and wellbeing of nurses, midwives and carers is critical to the performance of our health system and strongly influences workplace culture. With your support, I will continue to advocate for safe staffing, safer workplaces, fair working conditions, and the professional respect you deserve.

how to Vote for Skye

& the whaites + bough team

Every win we’ve secured comes back to one truth: we are always stronger together.

Under the NSWNMA's current leadership of Michael Whaites and Katrina Bough, this union has continually pushed forward – fighting hard for safer workplaces, better conditions, and genuine respect for the work we do.

Now, it’s time to protect that progress and keep building a better future for our union.
