I started my nursing career in Australia in a Cardiothoracic Stepdown ward. This ward also showed me how helpless nurses can be on their own.

I travelled and experienced three more workplaces and moved into intensive care nursing. It wasn't until 20 years later that I found my voice again and experienced collectivism at work.

I started out as a workplace branch delegate, then stepped up as branch secretary. I am passionate about nurses and midwives discovering their power at work. As a collective, we have the power to change our working conditions. I understand how daunting it is to stand up, especially if you’re CaLD. I want to be able to represent and show nurses, midwives and carers in all areas that we have the power to improve our working conditions.

It has been a privilege to represent nurses, midwives and carers, and make decisions that promote their wellbeing. 

As a Councillor, I will continue to promote the welfare of nurses, midwives and carers, and work with the whole team to strengthen our union.
